Foreclosure & Housing for Military Families Web Conference Recap

By Molly C. Herndon

Thank you to those of you who joined us for the Feb. 2 Foreclosure & Housing for Military Families web conference. We had participants from all over the globe and positive feedback. What a wonderful way to launch our web conferences for 2012!

If you were not able to join the session, you can still benefit from the great information shared by presenter Laura Royer. To view the recorded 90-minute session, click here.

Some great conversations were held in the chat box during the presentation, which, if you were too busy listening, you can review in the recorded session. Some of these topics will serve as FAQs on the topics of foreclosure and mortgage lending. Others have inspired future blog topics.

Also in the chat box, many participants shared great online resources. Below, we’ve compiled some of these resources. If you know of other resources, please share them in the comments section.

Please join us on Thursday, Feb. 23 for another great web conference on “Talking to Military Kids About Money.” For more information, visit the event page.

  1. Great session, especially given the rich interaction between the attendees! The Making Home Affordable web site is a great centralized information resource about available foreclosure prevention programs. I thought it might be helpful to highlight a couple of additional pages on that MHA site, one which might be helpful to any mortgage holder wanting to explore the various programs:

    * Making Home Affordable – Explore Programs:

And one that might be of particular interest to members of the military community who have VA insured or guaranteed mortgage loans:

    * Making Home Affordable – Veteran’s Administration Home Affordable Modification (VA-HAMP):

Another information resource that might be of particular interest to those who carry VA insured or guaranteed mortgage loans, is this resource page from the VA about avoiding foreclosure. It provides a very brief outline or overview of foreclosure prevention options which are covered in more detail in the presentation, and also includes an option particular to those who have VA insured or guaranteed mortgage loans called Refunding:

    * U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Home Loan Guaranty Services – Avoiding Foreclosure:

I hope these additional resources will be helpful.
